What’s it made of?
The Thermo-Splint® Custom Fit has two layers, one inner, and one outer. The outer layer is an extremely rigid acrylic. The inner layer is a thermo plastic material that becomes totally programmable when heated.
Extraordinary Features of the Custom Fit:
- Inner liner can be totally remolded chairside – repeatedly! (With a 150° water bath.)
- Retention can easily be increased or decreased during seating.
- It’s self-aligning! Patient compliance is greater due to superior fit and comfort.
- One appliance may take the place of several progressive treatment plans.
You may also add or subtract material from the Custom Fit inner layer (Thermo Beads are supplied with each splint). This gives you an easy-to-use tool for a variety of treatments. The splint can adapt again and again to incremental restorative work. Because the splint is fitted directly to the patient’s teeth (not a model), the fit is exceptionally precise. The intimate contact with the teeth also serves to spread the force out evenly over the appliance, providing less opportunity for breakage. It is also a versatile tool to open or close the vertical as needed. Because the patient bites into the splint to seat while it’s warm, it also equilibrates itself to the opposing.
